How to Floss Properly

Here's How:
1. Cut a piece of floss 18 inches long.
2. Wind most of the floss around the middle finger of one hand.
3. Wind the remainder of the floss around the middle finger of the other hand.
4. Hold the floss between the index fingers and thumbs, with about an inch of floss between them.
5. Wrap the floss around the back of the last tooth in your upper right jaw.
6. Gently slide it into the space between the tooth and gum until you feel resistance.
7. When the floss reaches the gum line, bend it into a C-shape around one tooth.
8. Unroll clean floss from one finger and wind it onto the other finger.
9. Using a gentle sawing motion, guide the floss between the first and second tooth.
10. Move the floss to the side of the tooth on the other side of the gap and repeat the process.
11. Pull the floss out from between the teeth.
12. Start with step ten on the next two tooth surfaces.

Tips:

1. Establish a habit of working from the upper right to the upper left, then lower left to lower right.
2. Don't wrap the floss uncomfortably tight around your fingers.
3. Don't injure the delicate gum by "snapping" the floss into the space between your teeth.
