Board Review Seminars

I’ve had some people ask me in the past what is truly the best Board review seminar on the market?  The discussion has been “What about the ADHA online review?”  How does it compare to what I feel is the BEST Board review in the nation?  When I was a senior in dental hygiene school, I attended 2 in person reviews and took one online.  I also had the chance to view the ADHA online review last year.

There are MANY factors to consider when choosing a review seminar and price is not the only thing to consider!  Think about it.  Let’s say you and I were out car shopping.  I told you there is a car for $5,000 or a car for $5,080.  Wouldn’t you want to know what you are getting for the money?  Would you immediately go buy the cheaper car just because it was cheap and not investigate further?  We need to take the same approach and not cheat ourselves just to save $80!  Is $80 really worth saving when you consider this is your future at stake?  The biggest and most important test of your life is waiting and you need to do whatever it takes to be sure you are prepared to pass this exam the first time!  Let’s see what you get for the money and what an extra $80 will provide!

The two seminars in question are:

ADHA Online Review - $295

Dental Hygiene Seminars Review - $375 (with class discount).

How many hours of actual instruction will you receive? DHS covers every topic on the Board exam with a LIVE PERSONAL Review for 27 hours. The ADHA review ONLY offers 15 hours and does NOT review every topic that you will see on the Board exam.  Don’t you think you want to review everything that you might see on the test or leave that up to you to try to figure out on your own?  ADHA Review cost per lecture hour = $19.67.   DHS Review cost per lecture hour = $13.89.

Best value = DHS Review!

How long has the review been offered?  This will be DHS’s 20th year preparing students to pass the Board exam!  That is over 33,000 satisfied students!  This is the ADHA’s 2nd year providing their review.  Why risk YOUR future on a review with no proven track record?   DHS has been doing Board reviews for so long that they know what has a high probability of being on the exam.

Most experienced = DHS Review!

What is the quality of the speakers?  DHS has the best presenters you could find.  They are experts in their field and most of them have viewed multiple dental hygiene Board exams in the past.  The lectures all flow perfectly and you are ensured you will get as much information as possible while they are lecturing.  While viewing the ADHA review, there were many technical glitches and other issues.  The lectures were choppy and were very slow at times.   There were times the screen froze, there was no video or audio dropped out. I felt like the time management of the ADHA review was not utilized best to give me a great quality review.  All DHS presenters are experienced and have great public speaking and time management skills.

Best quality = DHS Review!

Can you get questions answered? At the DHS review course, you will make eye contact with the speakers and be assured that any questions will be answered LIVE AND IN PERSON.  You are focused and dedicated to reviewing everything within a weekend of intense dental hygiene Board boot camp!  Online reviews don’t give you a chance to be seen and asking questions only slows down an already slow paced review.  DHS also gives you access to the speakers personal email addresses and most speakers are available all weekend for any more one on one time you might need.

Most personalized and interactive = DHS Review!

Are you provided you with a Mock Board? DHS is the only review that provides you with a Mock Board - otherwise, it’s like playing in the Super Bowl without prior game experience.  Would you want to chance the most important day of your schooling to taking an exam without ever seeing a practice one?  DHS provides the closest mock Board experience you will find outside of taking the real test.  The DHS mock Board is on the computer and in the same interactive format and design structure as the real test.  You can take the mock Board as many times as you need and each question is modeled after the same types of questions you will see on the real test.  What does the ADHA review provide?  They only give you random practice questions throughout their online lecture.  There is no real practice testing environment.

Best preparation for the real Board = DHS Review!

How long do you have access to the online review? This is the biggest deal affecting online reviews!  The ADHA online review access stops within 30 days of the seminar. That means your review access will STOP on March 5th, 2012!  Are you taking your Board exam before that?  If not, then you should really consider choosing a review that gives you full access ALL the time!  The DHS review does not expire!  Your review book will be with you forever and online access to the DHS Mock Board is valid until September, 2012.  If you need more time it can even be extended, but who wants to wait until September to take the Board!?

Best review material that does not expire = DHS Review!

What do you receive? DHS offers you a free tote bag, 500+ page comprehensive review book and interactive Mock Board. The material doesn’t expire. You will have everything you need to study prior to the exam. Also, there are no printing costs, technical issues, or internet required.  One major pitfall of the ADHA online review is that you have to be attached to the computer to study.  What if you have a slow internet connection?  What if there is a power outage, computer virus, or any other event that prevents you from having internet access?  If you can learn from watching an online presentation, then what is the difference from learning by just reading a review book?

Best content given to you  = DHS Review

Do they stay in touch once the review is finished? DHS offers the exclusive E-professor program that gives students personalized review questions, tips and encouragement before, during and after the seminar! Also, after the seminar, through AndyRDH.com, you will receive tips on finding clinical Board patients, clinical Board tips, resume advice, job-seeking hints and more! Only for DHS attendees!   The ADHA does not stay in contact with you and once March 2nd, 2012 comes around you are no longer on their mind until it’s time to sign up to be an ADHA member after graduation.  DHS is with you every step of the way and once you leave the seminar you are still part of our DHS family.

Most contact and interaction with you = DHS Review

Students opinions? As our testimonials show, students who have experienced multiple reviews all prefer DHS as their #1 choice. DHS attendees love the seminar and book so much that it is often a highlight of their hygiene school memories. Most students keep their review book for years in clinical practice as a comprehensive reference.  DHS has pages and pages of great testimonials from both faculty and students.  Students who took both the ADHA online review and the DHS live in person review all quickly suggest DHS to their friends and classmates.

Best testimonials = DHS Review

Guarantee? DHS is so confident in their review seminar that they even offer a guarantee that if you take the seminar you WILL pass the Board exam!  ADHA review offers no guarantees.

Best guarantee = DHS Review

Food? We all love food and to snack! Food is provided in the morning for breakfast, including drinks…water, coffee, OJ, etc.  There are also other breakfast foods provided such as bagels, muffins, cereal, etc (varies on seminar location).  Throughout the day there is also a mid afternoon snack, afternoon snacks, and all with sodas, coffee, water.  This helps you save money on breakfast, snacks, and drinks.

Best food = DHS Review

Fun? How fun can it be to stare at a computer screen for hours? Don’t you learn better when you are laughing and have a smile on your face?  All DHS speakers have humor and good stories to relate to the audience and to their topic to help you remember.  There are also fun games, door prizes, and contests throughout the 27 hour seminar.  In addition to the fun DURING the seminar, there is also fun outside of the review!  Many students and classmates cherish the time during the DHS Review weekends as great bonding experiences.  This is one of the few times you can get away as a class and have a great time making memories.  It’s also a great chance to network with other schools and meet other students in the same situations.

Most fun review = DHS Review

Who is voted best review? Time and time again, faculty and students have voted DHS review the #1 review to prepare for the Board exam.  AndyRDH from AndyFutureRDH.com has voted DHS the #1 Board review seminar each year and if there was a gold medal to give…it would surely go to DHS!

Voted # 1 Board Review = DHS Review

In conclusion, it’s easy to see which seminar provides the best review!

Do you want the Cadillac of review seminars that comes with a guarantee or do you want to take the risk of buying something way inferior with no guarantee?
